In January 2012 Sue, owner of Free Spirit
Adventures will be joining her Ground
Operator in Kenya, Kibo Slopes Safaris, and accompany 47 international
participants who will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.
The 2012 goal of
THE FREEDOM CLIMB is to touch the lives of 10,000 women through various
projects that aim to break the cycles of poverty, shame, slavery, and despair.
Mountains hold large significance in scripture. Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is
symbolic of the huge climb to freedom faced daily by millions of enslaved women
and children worldwide. The climb starts on 11th Jan, National Human
Trafficking Awareness Day. Funds generated will go to justice projects supported by
Operation Mobilization (OM). These projects combat slavery, oppression, and
trafficking by providing prevention, rescue, and development for people in
high-risk areas.
www.thefreedomclimb.net What is the OM
connection? Operation Mobilization (OM) is the founding organization for
The Freedom Climb. OM is an international Christian organization that has
been confronting injustice for over 50 years. With 6100 workers around
the world, OM teams have the experience, knowledge, and local language
advantage to make a lasting impact. Their commitment is to long-term,
relational ministry which meets spiritual needs and addresses the earthly bonds
of oppression.
Have you ever wanted to see the golden sunset over Africa's plains with a herd of elephant on the horizon? Ever imagined feeling the breeze off one of Africa's largest inland fresh water seas, or wanted to see Uganda's endangered gorillas in the jungle? How about a close encounter with Africa's big 5 in a hot-air balloon or a floating journey in a mokoro on the Okavango delta?
Would you like the first hand knowledge of someone who has experienced these adventures?
Sue has seen the rare Mountain Gorillas in Uganda, swum with dolphins, sky dived, hitched Botswana and paddled some of the continent’s wildest rivers.
Sue is a keen sports adventurer, having twice summited Mount Kilimanjaro, conquered Mt Kenya and Europe’s tallest peak, Mt. Elbrus. She has hiked Aconcagua in the Andes, trekked to Everest Base Camp and summited Island Peak in Nepal. She has cycled London to Brighton and completed many marathons. She has seen Africa!
And Sue has experienced all facets of Africa first hand. She set
